Hearing aid care: getting fit for the summer

Hearing aid care in summer
It's hot, very hot in South Baden right now.
We would like to recommend our free hearing aid service to you. You are invited to stop by our specialty store at any time! Because the current heat or a summer rain can make hearing aid care more difficult.
Questions often arise and we would like to help you get your hearing systems “fit” through the summer. This way we can work together to prevent any repairs or defects.
You can help us a lot! If one or both of your hearing aids is under a lot of strain, for example on a hot day, simply wipe the entire hearing aid with a handkerchief.
The ear piece (in which the loudspeaker is located in some modern hearing systems) can also be cleaned more frequently during this hot season. For cleaning, we recommend a skin-friendly disinfectant, which should only be used in very small doses. You are welcome to use this for earpieces and hearing aids (a small amount is enough here).
Should one or both of your hearing systems fail, we will provide you with replacement devices (if it is feasible, e.g. due to your hearing needs). These are free of charge until a solution has been found together!
Also one dry box I would like to recommend that this creates a warm air flow that can significantly reduce moisture inside the housing of a hearing aid. An investment of about 60 euros, which can prevent repairs in the long run. Because not every hearing aid wearer is the same, some are pensioners, others in the middle of working life, mothers or manual workers.
Not every hearing system wearer necessarily needs a drying box, but it is worth considering. A small example of this: Hearing aid microphones have tiny, sensitive membranes that acoustically record your surroundings through an opening in the housing. Moisture, especially over the long term, affects a microphone and can reduce its performance. We would be happy to advise you on this! Hearing aid care means fewer repairs and therefore lower costs.
So-called dry capsules are without electricity and practical for holidays. They are simply placed in the hearing system box and contain a silicate which, like the dry box, binds moisture.
If you have any questions about hearing aid care, we look forward to seeing you in our Specialist shop in Fribourg, a phone call or an email!
Stay healthy, best regards from Blumenstrasse
