- Design and size:
- In-the-ear hearing aids (ITE): These hearing aids are individually manufactured and sit either in the ear canal. There are very small, almost invisible hearing aids that almost completely disappear into the ear canal. There are also ITE (in-the-ear hearing aids) systems that are compatible with smartphones and have a battery
- Behind-the-ear hearing aids (BTE): These hearing aids sit behind the ear and are connected to the ear canal via a sound tube or a thin lead with a loudspeaker. They are suitable for various hearing losses, usually have Bluetooth and are powered by batteries or rechargeable batteries.
- Customization options:
- In-The-Ear Hearing Aids cannot be controlled via Bluetooth due to their smaller size in the smallest design.
- Behind-the-ear hearing aids offer wireless connectivity and are usually easy to use.
- Comfort and visibility:
- In-The-Ear Hearing Aids are often more discreet and often almost invisible due to their position in the ear canal. Many people prefer this cosmetic inconspicuousness.
- Behind-the-ear hearing aids are more convenient for some users because they are more robust, have Bluetooth, and often have battery technology.
- Suitability for certain hearing losses:
- In-The-Ear Hearing Aids are generally more suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss.
- Behind-the-ear hearing aids can cover a wider range of hearing losses, including severe hearing loss.

There are parking spaces directly in front of the door, and there are plenty of free parking spaces diagonally opposite and about 10m around the corner. How much does a hearing aid cost?
There is no general answer to this. The selection of manufacturers, models and variants is huge. As a patient of a health insurance company (regardless of whether you are a health insurance patient or privately insured) you are entitled to a hearing aid with a prescription. The services provided by the health insurance companies differ. There are devices with a one-off additional payment, but we also have hearing aids from Phonak or Signia available for which no additional payment is necessary.
In general, as a health insurance patient you are generally entitled to hearing aid care every 6 years; as a private patient, you are entitled to a hearing aid every 4-5 years, depending on the tariff and insurance provider.

The cost of hearing aids varies greatly. There are hearing aids for all insurance companies but also BGs that are completely covered (with the exception of the statutory additional payment of €10 per device), and there are also increasingly comfortable hearing aids with private contributions.
How long hearing aids “last” varies; statutory health insurance often pays the basic care again after 6 years. Since technical progress develops enormously over this period, it usually makes sense to inquire about new hearing aids after this time and compare them with existing hearing aids.
Hearing aids usually have two microphones that record the sound and emit it back through a loudspeaker. In between lies the heart of the hearing aid, the “minicomputer” that distinguishes speech from noise, recognizes music if necessary or, depending on the technology, also recognizes whether you are driving or going for a walk. In this case, depending on the level of technology, the hearing aids are directed to the side.
The hearing aids can often be connected to the smartphone. Depending on the technology and smartphone, you can use the hearing aids to make phone calls directly via both hearing aids, but also to listen to music or voice messages. It is often possible to connect the hearing systems to the television via a device.

However, it is important to visit a specialist store at least four times a year to have the hearing aids professionally cleaned and serviced on site.
